GMR Hyderabad International Airport Limited (GHIAL), which operates Rajiv Gandhi International Airport here, has launched a pilot training academy.

Asia Pacific Flight Training (APFT) Academy will impart pilot training and ground training with state-of-the-art infrastructure and plans to commence its first flight training course next month.

GHIAL has taken this initiative in technical collaboration with Asia Pacific Flight Training Sdn Bhd, Malaysia - one of the biggest flight training schools in the world.

Located adjacent to an international airport, the academy holds a unique distinction - offering hands-on experience, seamless expertise of operations in an international airport, and access to top class amenities and technology, said a statement by GHIAL Saturday.

APFT will offer a wide range of courses including the flagship Commercial Pilot License Programme spanning one and half years and other major courses such as Private Pilot License, Flight Instructors, Instrument Rating and Multi Engine Rating. The training programme conforms to international standards and regulations with the pilots' licenses awarded by India's Directorate General of Civil Aviation.

"The launch of Asia Pacific Flight Training programme is the need of the hour for India's aviation industry that requires a large number of trained manpower serving the nation with pride, honour and commitment," said S.G.K. Kishore, CEO GHIAL.

"RGIA is a vibrant ecosystem comprising a world class international airport, upcoming Aerospace Business, aviation-based Free Trade Zone and MRO facilities. APFT and its aspirant trainees will benefit a great deal from being located in such an integrated ecosystem," he added.
