Bayern Munich lost substitute striker Claudio Pizzaro to a thigh injury for several weeks, the Bundesliga front-runners announced in an official statement Wednesday.
Bayern's veteran striker and all time leading foreign goal scorer tore a muscle is his right thigh during a training session. The 36-year-old Peruvian will be out of action for several weeks, Xinhua reported.
"This is of course very sad. I keep my fingers crossed that we continue our winning streak. I am sure that they will also score without me in the Bundesliga and the Champions League," Pizzaro told the clubs official homepage.
Pizzaro played five matches and scored one goal this season so far.
