Chhattisgarh Police probe into a Rs 50 crore misappropriation case and other irregularities at D.K.S. Super Speciality Hospital may spell trouble for Punit Gupta, son-in-law of former Chief Minister Raman Singh.

The police is reportedly collecting evidences against Gupta on the basis of a departmental probe.

Senior Superintendent of Police Sheikh Arif told IANS on Monday a probe is on against Gupta on the basis of complaint filed by K.K. Sahare, superintendent of the hospital.

"Sahare in his complaint has cited lapses in the probe report conducted by the government. The police is collecting documents pertaining to irregularities in the report," Arif said.

Meanwhile, fearing that Gupta may flee the country, chief of the Congress medicare cell Rakesh Gupta has demanded confiscation of his passport. He has also submitted his complaint to the SSP.

"I have received a complaint in this regard and taking the necessary actions," Arif said.

Raman Singh's son-in-law Gupta is facing allegations of financial irregularities while heading the Dau Kalyan Singh Sarkari Super Speciality Hospital. The irregularities include procurements without approval, preparing fake audit report and misappropriation of Rs 50 crore.
