BJP president Rajnath Singh Tuesday said the rising prices of essential commodities will be controlled in six to 12 months if the party comes to power at the centre.
"We do not promise that price hike will be controlled in one month but it will be controlled in six to 12 months," he said while addressing a rally in Koderma, Jharkhand.
The BJP chief addressed five rallies in different parts of the state.
He said "It was the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government which controlled prices for six continuous years. We ask Sonia Gandhi and Manmohan Singh why prices of essential commodities increase when the Congress comes to power at the centre?"
He blamed the wrong polices of the central government and corruption as reasons for price rise.
He also appealed to people in Jharkhand to give a clear mandate to the party to ensure development of the state.
