Punjab would witness a major facelift in the road network as the state government has decided to strengthen 9,000 km of link roads with an outlay of Rs 1,000 crore, state Public Works Department Minister Razia Sultana said.
Likewise, the New Green Field Expressway connecting the national capital with Katra in Jammu via Amritsar is in the offing and would be constructed by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI).
Chairing a review meeting of the department, Sultana said the government is contemplating to construct ring roads around all major cites for which the feasibility study is being carried out.
"Under the Bharat Mala Scheme, the NHAI is upgrading 800 km of roads in the state and the work would commence shortly," she added.
