Quake rocks sea off Chile

An 7.8-magnitude earthquake struck the sea off north coast of Chile Thursday, authorities said.

The tremor was recorded at 10.43 a.m. Thursday (Beijing Time), Xinhua quoted the China Earthquake Networks Center as saying.

The tsunami early warning center said the earthquake is likely to cause tsunami in the areas near the epicenter.
