Home Minister Rajnath Singh Tuesday held talks with the Deputy Prime Minister of Singapore, Chee Hean Teo, in Monaco on the sidelines of the third Interpol general assembly meet.
The home minister requested Singapore to consider setting up a world class skill development centre in India, a government release said.
Singh also underlined six fields that need to be strengthened by both the countries. These were: strategic partnership, scaling of trade and investment, speeding connectivity including air and maritime, skill development, smart cities including urban development with waste and water management, state's focus to forge cultural and economic ties, the release said.
While meeting Teo, the home minister appreciated cooperation from Singapore in the field of security and police cooperation, economic and culture cooperation.
He was accompanied by an Indian delegation that included Indcia's Ambassador to France Arun Kumar Singh, CBI director Ranjit Sinha and Joint secretary in the home ministry Bhagwan Shankar.
The home minister underscored the fact that Singapore is a vital partner for India as its gateway to ASEAN countries.
"With regard to legal cooperation, Rajnath Singh requested that the pending Letter of Rogatories in Singapore should be looked into on priority," the release said.
The CBI director emphasised on exchange of faculty and training towards capacity building of police officers of India and Singapore. He also proposed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between India and Singapore on this issue.
