The latest incident of a motorcyclist getting beaten to death in Delhi's Turkman Gate area allegedly by five men in a car has once again highlighted the road rage cases that the city has been witnessing in recent years.
A snapshot of some recent road rage cases in Delhi:
April 5, 2015: Shahnawaz was allegedly beaten to death by the occupants of an i20 car that hit his motorcyle near Turkman Gate in Darya Ganj. He was with his two kids when the incident occurred and led to an altercation.
March 9, 2015: Mandeep Kalita, an MBA student, was hit by a baseball bat on the head in south Delhi's Amar Colony after a Haryana-registered car behind Kalita's car kept honking which led to a heated argument between the two sides.
October 16, 2014: Assistant Commissioner of Police Amit Singh was assaulted with a helmet, steel knuckles and stones by a teenager and his two relatives, travelling in a Maruti Swift Dzire car near Lodhi Road. The teenager attacked him after being questioned by Singh for hitting the latter's car.
June 14, 2014: Mana Ram, a traffic constable, was dragged about 150 metres and then run over by a car driven by Raman Kant who was stopped by the former for not following traffic diversion at the Zakhira flyover in west Delhi. The constable died in hospital.
February 28, 2014: Two brothers, Shadab Singh and Kaptan Singh, were shot dead by a man Rahul over an argument about parking space in Bawana area in outer Delhi.
March 26, 2013: Somdev, a security officer-cum-driver of a Delhi businessman, shot at another man, Vikas, in the Delhi Cantonment area. This happenned after a scuffle between Somdev and Vikas, who was riding a motorbike along with his three friends and did not give Somdev enough space to overtake.
May 2012: Three Saket district court judges, Ajay Garg, Inderjit Singh and M. K. Nagpal, were beaten up in south Delhi by Anil Raj, Sunil, Prashant and Rohit in a road rage case.
December 23, 2011: Shravan, 41, and his son Anil, 18, battered Akash Kumar to death in Mangolpuri in northwest Delhi after their motorbike was brushed by his scooter. The father-son duo beat Akash with helmets till he died.
January 11, 2011: Rajiv Jolly, a restaurant manager in Khan Market, was allegedly run over by Jet Airways pilot Vikas Aggarwal following an argument after their cars had a small collision. Jolly died.
