Capital football club AS Roma on Sunday confirmed the signing of young Turkey attacking midfielder Cengiz Under from Istanbul Basaksehir FK in a five-year contract.
"The 20-year-old joins for an initial fee of 13.4 million euros ($15.36 million). Depending on the achievement of certain performance targets, on the part of both the player and the club, the club could pay up to an additional 1.5 million euros ($1.7 million) in bonuses," Roma said in a statement:.
Cengiz has recently broken into Turkey's senior side and has so far picked up four caps, scoring two goals.
At Roma he will wear the No. 17 shirt, according to Roma's website.
"I'm delighted to be here and very excited about meeting the fans," Cengiz said in the statement. "My aim is to earn myself a regular starting berth as quickly as possible."
Cengiz began his career at Bucaspor before joining Altinordu in the summer of 2014.
After 50 games and 11 goals in the second division last summer, he was signed by Basaksehir -- for whom he would play 32 games and score seven goals in the Turkish Super Lig as the club qualified for the play-off rounds of this season's Champions league.
"We are extremely happy with the arrival of Cengiz, a player with great technical ability," Roma sporting director Monchi said.
"We are confident he will quickly adjust to his new surroundings and his quality and talent will be a valuable addition to our squad."
