The Border Security Force (BSF) has seized fake Indian currency notes (FICN) with a face value of nearly Rs.14 lakh in West Bengal, an official statement said Wednesday.
The FICN amounting to Rs. 13,99,500 were seized near the Indo-Bangladesh border in West Bengal's Malda district Tuesday.
According to the BSF, the FICNs were wrapped in polythene sheets and kept underneath a culvert. The consignment was placed by Bangladeshi smugglers for circulation in India. But the notes were seized before Indian smugglers could take them away.
No arrest has been made so far.
