Rs.2,263 crore spent on Sukhoi repair, maintenance
The government has spent Rs.2,263.95 crore on repairing and maintaining Sukhoi aircraft with the Indian Air Force (IAF) over three years, Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar said Tuesday.
In a written statement in the Rajya Sabha, the minister said while Rs.551.35 crore was spent in 2011-12, this went up to Rs.877.84 crore the next year and stood at Rs.834.76 crore in fiscal 2013-14.
The maintenance work on SU-30 was carried out in accordance with procedures specified in the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) Maintenance Manuals and Servicing Schedules for the aircraft, he said.
A Su-30 aircraft of the IAF crashed recently near near Pune, Parrikar said. A court of inquiry had been ordered to ascertain the cause, he said.
