Top seed in men's singles qualifying Abhinav Sanjeev Shanmugam eased past Dhruv Sunish 6-4,6-1 to enter the main draw of the ongoing Central Excise ITF Futures at the synthetic courts of the Bengal Tennis Association here on Sunday.
Sunish, quarter finalist of the previous week's ITF Futures, could not make much of an impact in front of the confident Shanmugam.
Second seed Hsiang Chiu Yu of Chinese Taipei failed to do justice to his billing as he faltered in the final qualifying round against much lower ranked Nicholas Bybel of the US, placed at 14 in the qualifying draw.
Bybel, currently ranked at 1384 in the world, won by a straight 6-1,6-4.
