Indian celebrity chef Sanjeev Kapoor will participate in Masala! Food Fair, a two-day celebration of food and entertainment from the subcontinent, which will begin Feb 20 here as a part of Dubai Food Festival.

Kapoor will be hosting a series of interactive culinary sessions and will also be judging on-site competitions at the food gala.

"Being a global ambassador for Indian cuisine is a source of great pride for me and to be given an opportunity to interact with food lovers from all over at the first ever Masala! Food Fair is very exciting. This event is designed to celebrate the influence of the South Asian diaspora in the UAE and I am looking forward to taking visitors on a beautiful and memorable culinary journey," said Kapoor.

Visitors to the food fest's venue Zabeel Park can look forward to the outdoor festival and indulge in street food or watch high-profile chefs showcasing their talent live on stage, participate in live competitions or shop at the Masala! Food Fair marketplace.

"From the moment our visitors walk through the gates of Zabeel Park, they will be taken on an unforgettable culinary journey through the subcontinent. Great food, great weather, great atmosphere, great entertainment?the Masala! Food Fair promises all this and more," Kavita Srinivasan, editor at ITP Publishing, organisers of the Masala! Food Fair, said in a statement.

International music acts will also entertain the crowd. Food challenges, demonstrations and competitions will add to the festive atmosphere.

"We are delighted that the Masala Food Fair! is a part of Dubai Food Festival's robust lineup of events. The subcontinent's rich and diverse culinary traditions are firmly rooted in Dubai's foodie culture and restaurant scene.

"We are excited that residents as well as tourists from around the world attending this event will get to experience the diversity, creativity and multi-cultural nature of Dubai's culinary offering - influenced by the flavours of the 200 nationalities that live in Dubai," said Debra Greenwood, director of the Dubai Food Festival.
