HRD Minister Smriti Irani Wednesday released supplementary reading material on "Ved Parijat" and audio-video material consisting of short stories on the concluding day of Sanskrit week.
Being celebrated annually since 2001, the week was celebrated in all Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) affiliated schools in the country Aug 7-13, with over 11 lakh students and over 50,000 employees participating in various competitions.
"Total prizes given at the school level were more than 29,000 while the total awards presented at the national level were 119 for CBSE students and 25 for Kendriya Vidyalaya students. Awards were also given to nine teachers and nine school principals," said a human resource development ministry statement.
During the Sanskrit week, all activities during daily morning assembly like prayers, pledges, skits and speeches were conducted in Sanskrit.
