Sensex provisionally closes 201 points up (Fourth Lead)

A benchmark index of Indian equities markets, the 30-scrip BSE Sensitive Index (Sensex), on Friday provisionally closed 201.28 points or 0.78 percent up.

The wider 50-scrip Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) also rose 82.75 points or 1.05 percent and provisionally closed the day's trade at 7,981.90 points.

The Sensex of the S&P Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which opened at 26,130.36 points, provisionally ended the day's trade at 26,165.25 points (at 3.35 p.m.) -- up 201.28 points or 0.78 percent from the previous day's close at 25,963.97 points.

The Sensex touched a high of 26,471.82 points and a low of 26,130.36 points in the intra-day trade.
