Sensex provisionally closes 214 points down
A benchmark index of the Indian equities markets, the 30-scrip BSE Sensitive Index (Sensex), provisionally closed Wednesday's trade 213.68 points or 0.78 percent down.
The wider 50-scrip Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) also provisionally closed 61.70 points or 0.75 percent in the red at 8,171.20 points.
The Sensex of the S&P Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which opened at 27,131.71 points, provisionally closed at 27,039.76 points (at 3.40 p.m.) -- down 213.68 points or 0.78 percent from the previous day's close at 27,253.44 points.
The Sensex touched a high of 27,163.98 points and a low of 26,919.96 points in the intra-day trade.
