Seven Afghan civilians were killed and nine others injured when a rocket fired by the Taliban hit a market in the country's eastern province of Nuristan, Xinhua reported citing the interior ministry Sunday.
"Seven civilians were killed and seven civilians and two policemen were wounded as a rocket fired by the Taliban terrorists struck the Duhab district bazaar of Nuristan province at round 4.15 p.m. Saturday," the ministry said in a statement.
Describing the attack as a cowardly act, the ministry strongly condemned the incident.
In addition, militants killed two children, aged eight and 10, in neighbouring Kunar province, the provincial police chief said Sunday.
