Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has approved all the recommendations of the special committee to solve the plight of Rohingya Muslims of Myanmar including assistance of $5 mn, an official statement said here on Tuesday.
The announcement was made after Islamic nations have expressed concerns over the treatment of Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar.
Sharif would be writing a letter to the UN secretary general drawing his attention to the issue, said the statement issued by the prime ministers office.
The Pakistan government formed a high-level committee to explore ways on how to respond to the needs of the Rohingyas.
Meanwhile, the Pakistan Senate passed a resolution condemning the persecution of the Rohingya Muslims and called for declaring June 12 a day of solidarity with them.
The resolution said that Rohingya Muslims were being denied of their natural right of residing in a country where they have been living for centuries.
