The Indian challenge at the $500,000 Malaysia Open Super Series Premier came to an end when Kidambi Srikanth lost his men's singles quarterfinal at the Putra Stadium here Friday.
World No.38 was the last Indian left in the tournament and went down to Indonesian fourth seed Tommy Sugiarto 10-21, 15-21 in 36 minutes in their first ever face-off.
The World No.4 Indonesian was dominant in the first game, leading from start to finish.
In the second game, the Indian national champion provided some fight, equalising at 15-all, but Sugiarto won the next six points to wrap up the game and match.
