Indian shuttlers Sourabh Verma and H.S. Prannoy defeated their opponents to advance in the New Zealand Open Badminton here on Thursday.
Verma, the seventh seed, defeated his compatriot Parupalli Kashyap in gruelling three games. Verma, who is in his prime form, edged past the 15th seed 21-18, 13-21, 21-16 in the third round match which lasted around one hour.
Prannoy, the fourth seed, defeated 10th seed Wei Nan of Hong Kong in straight sets 21-18 21-19. The Indian shuttler will now take on 11th seed Lin Yu Hsien of Chinese Taipei, while Verma will face Lee Cheuk Yiu of Hong Kong.
