Siachen soldier Hanumanthappa remains immortal: PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has paid tribute to Lance Naik Hanumanthappa Koppad who died on Thursday in a hospital here after battling for his life for two days . He had been dug out alive after being buried under the ice for six days in the Siachen glacier

"He leaves us sad and devastated. RIP Lance Naik Hanumanthappa. The soldier in you remains immortal. Proud that martyrs like you served India," Modi said in a tweet.

He died at 11.45 a.m. at the Army Hospital( Research and Referral), an official told IANS.
