Somdev overcomes Lukas Lacko in five sets

India's Somdev Dvvarman has outlasted Lukas Lacko of Slovakia over five sets in a rain-interrupted men's singles first round at the US Open here at Flushing Meadows.

Somdev won 4-6, 6-1, 6-2, 4-6, 6-4, the match lasting three hours 11 minutes.

The Indian will next play World No 20 Italian Andrea Seppi who overcame Belgian Xavier Malisse over four hard-fought sets, 6-3, 3-6, 7-5, 7-5.
