Targeting Uttar Pradesh's ruling Samajwadi Party, MIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi said it invoked the "fear of BJP" in the minorities to rule the state.
Reiterating his party's stand to uproot the Akhilesh Yadav government in the state and consolidate Dalits and Muslims to emerge a major electoral force in UP, Owaisi, who was on a visit to Balrampur, Gorakhpur and Siddharthanagar, also clarified that neither his party was not against any caste or religion but fought communal forces who were out to shred the secular fabric of the country.
Exhorting party workers to work hard for the 2017 assembly polls, he also said that his party will not be on the sidelines of the state's political discourse but in the thick of it.
Earlier, soon after his arrival in Gorakhpur, he faced massive protests from Hindu groups who took to the streets and shouted slogans like 'Owaisi go back'.
At a point the situation turned tense when Hindu groups and Owaisi supporters came face to face and police had to intervene and detain some people. For fear of the protests spreading further, Owaisi met party workers and supporters inside a hotel room.
