Sri Lanka's ruling United National Party (UNP) on Saturday announced key policies which it hopes to adopt if it wins the parliamentary elections scheduled to be held next month.

UNP leader and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe said the policies would include sharing power with provinces, Xinhua news agency reported.

Speaking at a UNP special convention in Colombo, Wickremesinghe said he believed that every community should be able to enjoy equal rights.

The UNP leader also said a UNP government would also look to legalise a special unit to fight corruption.
