Police in the restive north-east state of Borno confirmed the killing of six people when a suicide bomber attacked the venue of a wedding in Tashan Alade town of the state.
State police chief Aderemi Opadokun, who confirmed the toll in Maiduguri, the state capital, said up to 30 people were also injured during the attack on Friday.
Opadokun said that police had commenced investigations into the matter, Xinhua reported.
Maiduguri has been the epicenter of the battle against the militant group Boko Haram.
The state is also where about 200 Chibok schoolgirls were abducted in 2014 and have still not been returned. Borno has been subject to relentless attacks and suicide bombings over the years.
