Suresh Productions, one of Indian cinema's popular production houses, turned 50 Wednesday. Its legacy continues to the present day as the organisation continues to back meaningful and entertaining films across multiple languages.

Founded by Padma Bhushan awardee D. Ramanaidu in 1963, the company's first Telugu film was "Anuragam", which was unsuccessful.

Following "Anuragam", Ramanaidu's career was resurrected with Telugu film "Ramudu Bheemudu", which released May 21, 1964 and created a sensation. The film's overwhelming success paved the way for Tamil as well as Hindi remakes as "Nam Naadu" and "Ram Aur Shyam", respectively.

Since then, he has produced over 200 films in 15 Indian languages and is the holder of a Guinness Record, which he received in 1999, for producing films in the maximum number of languages.

The company is known for producing memorable Telugu films such as "Prem Nagar", "Jeevana Tarangalu" and "Secretary".

In Hindi, it has produced films such as "Prem Nagar", "Dildaar", "Dilwala" and "Anari".

In 2013, Ramanaidu produced the Punjabi film "Singh Vs Kaur", which was a box office hit.

The production house has also produced films in Tamil, Oriya, English, Kannada, Malayalam and several other Indian languages.

The 77-year-old Ramanaidu handed over the reins of his company long back to his son Suresh Babu, who currently heads it.

Ramanaidu's younger son Venkatesh and grandson Rana Daggubati are popular actors in Telugu filmdom.

"Celebrating 50 years of Suresh Productions today," posted Rana on this special occasion on his Twitter page.
