Suspected Libyan Al Qaeda leader Abd al-Baset Azzouz was captured in Turkey's western province of Yalova last month, a Turkish daily reported Thursday.

Azzouz, 48, was seized Nov 13 in a joint operation between Turkish intelligence officers, police and the US Central Intelligence Agency(CIA), Xinhua reported citing the Daily Milliyet.

The suspected was interrogated about his suspected involvement in the 2012 killing of then-US Ambassador to Libya Christopher Stevens and later was sent to the US Nov 24.

According to the report, Azzouz was reportedly in possession of a fake Libyan passport when he was captured and was living in a rented house in Yalova.

He is now expected to stand trial for his alleged involvement in the murder of Stevens and three US staff members during an attack on the US consulate in Benghazi, Libya.
