Tata Group has come forward to help Andhra Pradesh develop smart cities and to assist newly-created Telangana state with its technical knowhow in various sectors.

Tata Group chairman Cyrus Mistry Wednesday met Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and his Telangana counterpart K. Chandrasekhar Rao.

During his meeting with Naidu, Mistry assured him that Tata Group will help in development of smart cities in Andhra Pradesh.

Mistry also evinced interest in working with the state government in information technology, knowledge and skill development, said a statement from the government.

During his meeting with Telangana chief minister, Mistry assured to help the state with its expertise and technical knowhow in various sectors.

According to a statement from the Chief Minister's Office, Chandrasekhar Rao urged the Tata Group to participate in reconstruction of Telangana.

Rao told Mistry the state is chalking out policies for development in industry, IT, education and infrastructure sectors. He said the government will seek help from Tata Consultancy in these sectors.

Hailing the plan to make Hyderabad a slum-free city, Mistry said the Tata Group will help the state with its experience and expertise in developing new colonies and providing infrastructure.

KCR, as the Telangana chief minister is popularly known, said Hyderabad has 1,700 notified slums and requested Tata Consultancy to be a partner in working out and implementing plans for building houses, developing roads and providing infrastructure.
