Software major Tata Consultancy Services Ltd (TCS) on Friday said that it has been named the top employer in the Asia Pacific region by a global institute.

"Top Employers Institute has named our company as 'Top Employer Asia Pacific 2017' and ranked in the top three certified organsations in the APAC region,a said the city-based IT major in a statement here.

The 25-year-old Netherlands-based institute certifies excellence in the conditions that employers create for their people.

The institute's certification recognises global firms in human resources management and employee conditions. International audit firm Grant Thornton audits the ranking.

"We also got first time top employer certification in China and Philippines and scored multi-year top employer certifications in Australia, India and Singapore," said TCS.

"Over the years, we have assessed and certified companies the world over using our proprietary methodology. We value objectivity, independence and selectivity. Hence, employees can trust the certified firms to have excellent conditions for their people to develop," Institute Chief Executive David Plink said in a post on the TCS website.

With software development centres and back offices worldwide, the Tata Group's flagship behemoth employs a whopping 370,000 techies.

"It's an honour to be named top employer in the region, as we provide the best-in-class workplace for our employees to strive and succeed. The ranking also testifies our commitment to create a world-class corporate culture to our techies," said TCS Asia Pacific HR Head K. Sudeep in the statement.

The outsourcing firm was early this year declared 'Global Top Employer' and joined an exclusive group of firms with the rating.

"Our research showed that TCS Asia Pacific forms part of a select group of employers that advance employee conditions worldwide. Its people are well taken care of," added Plink.
