Ten persons were arrested on Thursday in Madhya Pradesh in connection with the seizure of three antique statues worth Rs 3.10 crore in the international market, police said.
Indore Deputy Inspector General of Police Hari Narayan Chari Mishra told IANS that the smugglers were trying to sell off these statues -- ranging in antiquity from a century to four hundred years -- through the social media when they were arrested on a tip-off by Indore's Crime Branch.
All three statues are made of 'ashtadhatu' or amalgam of eight metals. It is yet to be ascertained from where these antiques were stolen or brought, the DIG said.
