'The Spectacular Jihad of Taz Rahim' to premiere in LA

Monica Dogra and Rahsaan Islam starrer "The Spectacular Jihad of Taz Rahim" will have its premiere here on Wednesday.

Directed by Raghav Murali, the upcoming unconventional Indo-American film features Monica as a news anchor. Filmed mainly in New York, the fictional story is inspired by real events but takes a light hearted approach in order to start a discussion on the serious implications.

"The real life story the movie is inspired by is too crazy to believe. It's a very serious subject...not too many people laugh at the word 'jihad', but what happened at times during the film's shooting is just way too funny.

"I think our director Raghav has done a wonderful job balancing that and working with my co-actors was so much fun. Monica has given a wonderful performance, it was a blast working with her and I think that energy shows itself on-screen," Rahsaan said in a statement.

The film, which will be premiered here by ICM Partners, will release this year in English and Hindi.
