Three men of the Delhi Police, including a head constable, were injured in an attack by a group of suppliers of illicit liquor. Two of the accused have been arrested, police said Wednesday.
The incident occurred around 7.30 p.m. Tuesday, when a Delhi Police team raided south Delhi's Sangam Vihar area on receiving a tip-off about a gang of illicit liquor suppliers.
Head constable Sanjay and constables Satpal and Vijay received injuries after the group attacked them with iron rods and wooden sticks during the raid.
"Satpal received severe injuries, but has been discharged after first aid along with the other two policemen," a police officer said.
The officer said the policemen were forced to fire in the air to save themselves.
"Two of the accused have been arrested," the officer said.
