Three of the four people killed in the firing by security forces in Jammu and Kashmir's Shopian Saturday had no militancy record while the fourth slain man was a foreign guerrilla belonging to Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) outfit, police said Monday.
A police statement issued here said that the the incident in Gagaran (Shopian) in which four people were killed and one injured is being investigated.
"Three killed have been identified as Tawseef Ahmad Bhat, resident of Baba Mohalla in Shopian, Mohammad Yousuf Sofi, resident of Durpora, Zainapora, Shopian and Tariq Ahmad Mir resident of Okay, Kulgam.
"These three do not have any previous record of militancy," it said.
"The fourth non-local looking person has neither been claimed nor identified by any local. However, the evidence collected from the spot and subsequent verifications suggest that he is Abdullah Haroon of LeT," said the statement.
It said a pistol, two grenades and a diary were recovered from the spot, while a mobile phone recovered from Haroon's pocket contains a video clip showing weapons snatched from police and CRPF (Central reserve Police Force) personnel in the incidents of Arwani and Awnera Shopian."
"Further mobile phone has Dialer/Skype software which is available with Lashkar commanders."
Curfew continued for the third day Monday in Shopian town as locals claimed all the four persons killed in security force firing were unarmed civilians.
