Three prisoners were killed - one gunned down and two others beaten to death - in a clash between members of two gangs in a jail in Rajasthan's Bikaner Thursday, police said.
According to police, the incident took place around 6 p.m. at the Central Jail in Bikaner, around 500 km from Jaipur.
"The incident was the fallout of an old rivalry between two gangs. Those who were killed were identified as Balbeer Banuda, Jaiprakash and Rampal," said a police officer.
Jaiprakash allegedly opened fire at Banuda when they were lodged in the same barracks.
"Banuda died on the spot, while his aide Anand Pal Singh, who is a known criminal, sustained bullet injuries on his shoulder. Banuda's other accomplices then beat Jaiprakash and his aide Rampal to death," said the officer.
The officer added that jail superintendent Surendra Singh has been suspended.
