Traffic on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway was halted on Saturday due to the flood situation in the Valley.
The authorities ordered the suspension of traffic keeping the safety of passengers in mind.
The highway passes through many landslide-prone areas in Ramban district and also through low lying areas in the Valley.
"The situation will be reviewed as and when the weather improves", officials said.
The pilgrim movement from Jammu to the Valley was already halted as no Yatri carrying vehicle was allowed to move towards the Valley from the Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Niwas on Saturday.
At some places in the south Kashmir Anantnag and Pulwama districts, the highway gets submerged during floods.
