A student leader of the West Bengal's ruling Trinamool Congress was arrested here for allegedly rash driving resulting in an accident that killed a pedestrian.
According to the police, Kanishk Majumder late on Thursday night rammed his car against a taxi which in turn hit a pedestrian near Ballygunge area of the city.
A leader of the Trinamool Chhatra Parishad, Majumder then tried to flee from the spot but was arrested.
Booked for rash and negligent driving, he was subsequently granted bail by a court. The pedestrian succumbed to his injuries.
