The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) and a students' group from Osmania University have called for a Telangana shutdown Saturday to protest the arrests of hundreds of pro-Telangana activists across the region.
TRS chief K. Chandrasekhara Rao appealed to people to observe the shutdown to condemn what he calls the "repressive measures" of the ruling Congress government in Andhra Pradesh. Condemning the arrests of leaders and activists, the MP demanded their immediate and unconditional release.
Osmania University students' Joint Action Committee (JAC) has also called for Telangana bandh on Saturday.
Telangana comprises 10 districts, including Hyderabad.
