Two people died and another was injured as a balcony and a bus shelter gave way in the city on Monday following heavy rains, police said.
A 70-year-old woman died when the balcony of an old building collapsed in the Panchanantal area of south Kolkata. Another woman was also seriously injured in the incident.
Fire tenders, disaster management group and the police were carrying out recuse operations with some other people feared trapped in the residential building.
A part of a shed on a bus stand gave way in the Tiljala area of south east Kolkata killing one person.
The victim, whose identity was yet to be established, was standing in the bus stand when the accident occurred.
