Two people were killed and two of their friends were left injured when a speeding truck ran over them while they were sleeping on a footpath here on Sunday morning, police said.
The incident occurred around 4.50 a.m. near Madipur Metro station in west Delhi.
Anil Bedi, 34, and Ramesh Kumar, 43, were declared dead at a nearby hospital while their friends Lekh Raj, 35, and Digambar Prashad, 45, who suffered injuries in the incident, were being treated.
"The truck driver fled from the spot after the incident," a police official said, adding that the truck, having Haryana registration number, has been impounded.
The official said the victims, who work as labourers, reside in Madipur with their families.
"A case of rash and negligent driving has been registered against the yet unidentified driver and a hunt is on to nab him," the official added.
