New Delhi, April 22 (IANS) A court here Monday sent two men, who along with six others had allegedly gang-raped a 13-year-old girl here last month, to judicial custody till May 4. Four others were earlier in custody and two are still absconding.
Metropolitan Magistrate Muneesh Garg remanded the two accused to judicial custody after they were produced before him following their arrest. The Delhi Police arrested them Sunday.
The court had earlier sent four other accused Sohan Lal 24, Deepak 21, Ranjit 20, and Sachin to judicial custody till May 4 after they were produced in the court following their arrest on April 20.
The girl, who was abducted March 15 by the men and released after a nine day ordeal, consumed an overdose of sleeping pills Saturday morning at her house in Farsh Bazar area in east Delhi. She was admitted at the Hedgewar Hospital in east Delhi and Monday shifted to the prestigious All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS).
The victim's family had complained of police apathy in the case. Police only swung into action on the orders of the Karkardooma court, which the family approached April 9 after earlier reportedly taking no action on their complaint.
The 13-year-old victim and her 12-year-old brother were abducted by two men known to her on March 15 from outside her house and taken to Loni on the city outskirts. There six accomplices of the two abductors joined them and raped the girl in a house, a police officer said. The boy was released the next day.
