Ugandans file police case for midnight raid

Four Ugandan nationals Friday registered a police case against "unknown persons" for misbehaving with them during the early Thursday raid by a Delhi minister and his party cadre, said police officials.

The four women, including one who was beaten up, have also sent their complaints to the Ugandan High Commission here, a senior police official told IANS."They have filed a complaint against unknown persons who misbehaved with them," the official added.

In the complaint, they said that "some unidentified persons knocked at their door" past midnight and "when she asked them, they asked her to come out.

"When I refused, they contined banging on the door. I then opened the door and was caught and attacked."

She went on to say that the police came at the right time and she was taken to the hospital and discharged later.

The victim lives in Khirki Extension in South Delhi.

The victim was talking about the the raid in the early hours by Delhi Law Minister Somnath Bharti and AAP cadres who reached Khirki Extension -- where many African nationals who come to India either for education and medical aid stay -- to bust a "prostitution and drug racket" of which he had received complaints from his constituents.

According to eyewitnesses, the minister and the party volunteers came in large number and tried to barge into a house from which they claimed a "drug and sex ring" was operating.
