Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on Friday accused the union government of neither heeding to their requests for power nor cooperating in sorting out problems in the crucial sector.

Speaking at an investors' meet on renewable energy, Yadav rued that the Narendra Modi government was not extending help and cooperation to establish more power plants.

Yadav said his government had worked from its own resources to do the needful.

He informed the investors that maximum work had been done in Bundelkhand as far as solar energy was concerned, adding that the Uttar Pradesh government had unveiled a solar energy policy and was going to light up low cost houses for poor through solar energy.

Speaking on the occasion, the union government's Joint Secretary Tarun Kapoor said other than rural areas, the union government had planned to light up over 10 million houses in the state through solar energy.

Kapoor also apprised the investors about the union government setting a target of one lakh megawatt solar power by 2022.
