A Samajwadi Party legislator from Uttar Pradesh, arrested here last week during a raid on a dance bar, was granted bail Monday.
The legislator from Sitapur, Mahendra Singh, who was arrested with five other accomplices, will, however, have to report to Panaji Police Station for three days, the court said.
A police raid on a city hotel Aug 27, following an anonymous phone call, led to the rescue of six women and the arrest of six men, including the sitting Samajwadi Party legislator from Uttar Pradesh.
According to Goa Police, the six girls rescued during the raid come from New Delhi and Mumbai. When the raid was conducted, the girls were performing a dance for the legislator and his friends, police said.
The Samajwadi Party suspended Mahendra Singh after the incident and issued a show cause notice to him, after the media reported his arrest from the dance bar.
