A man accused of gun attacks at Mesa in the US state of Arizona, that left one person dead and five others wounded, appeared before a judge who set his bail at $2 million.
Ryan Elliott Giroux, 41, who appeared in court on Thursday, faces 35 charges including murder, kidnapping and armed robbery.
According to the prosecutor's office, the authorities conducted a city-wide search in Mesa for the suspect.
The shootings began Wednesday morning when Giroux shot dead a man at a motel in Mesa and wounded two other women.
Giroux then went towards a nearby restaurant and wounded a student while stealing his car. After that, he went to a residential area where he shot two others.
After a chase, authorities found Giroux in a vacant apartment in the same area, where he tried to resist arrest and was tasered by the police.
Giroux has on earlier occasions been sentenced for several crimes in Arizona, where he spent a total of 16 years in prison, and also faced arrests in California and Washington state.
