The United States will suffer "loss" over possible intervention in Syria, Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei warned Thursday.
Recent Western allegations against Syria "under the pretext of chemical weapons use" are aimed at practising dominance over the region, Xinhua cited semi-official news agency ISNA as quoting Khamenei.
The US leaders are "trying to pretend that they want to intervene for humanitarian purposes, but nobody in the world could fancy that the Americans are after humanitarian issues in Syria", said Khamenei.
"We believe the United States is making a mistake about Syria and will suffer a definite loss," he told members of the Iranian Assembly of Experts.
The US senate foreign relations committee Wednesday passed a resolution to authorise a military strike against Syria.
