Diversified natural resources company Vedanta Limited on Thursday said it posted a whopping 576.61 percent in its standalone net profit for the quarter ending March, at Rs.3,882.37 crore against Rs.573.79 crore in the corresponding quarter of 2014-15.
According to the audited financial results posted on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), the company's total income howver declined to Rs.7,820.20 crore in the quarter under review from Rs.8,030.95 crore in the same period of 2014-15, while total expenses rose to Rs.7,191.56 in the analysed quarter from Rs.6,842.53 crore.
Annually, the company posted a standalone net profit of Rs.5,471.88 crore for 2015-16 compared to Rs.1,927.20 crore clocked in 2014-15, a rise of 183.92 percent, but reported heavy losses on a consolidated basis.
It posted a consolidated net loss of Rs.10,281.38 crore in the quarter under review against a consolidated net loss of Rs.18,718.13 crore in the same period of 2014-15.
Similar trend continued in consolidated annual results.
