Venezuela defeated the Dominican Republic 72-68 in the opening match of the second stage at the FIBA (International Basketball Federation) 2015 Americas Championship here.
Nestor Colmenares played a starring role with 19 points and six rebounds as Venezuela claimed their third victory in the tournament on Sunday, reports Xinhua.
Colmenares was greatly supported by Windi Graterol, who scored 11 points and four rebounds, as well as John Cox who scored 10 points.
On the other hand, Dominican Edgar Sosa scored 21 points and two rebounds, followed by James Feldine with 13 points and Vargas with 11.
With this victory, Venezuela have collected eight points while Dominican Republic have seven points.
