The judgment against four accused in the Dec 16, 2012, gang rape of a 23-year-old intern physiotherapist here will be delivered Sep 10, a fast track court said here Tuesday.
Additional Sessions Judge Yogesh Khanna reserved the order in the case after prosecution and defence counsel concluded their arguments.
The case relates to a woman who was brutally tortured and raped by a gang in a moving bus by five men and a juvenile, after she boarded the vehicle with her male friend.
The victim later died in a Singapore hospital where she was taken for treatment for her injuries.
During the hearing, Special Public Prosecutor Dayan Krishnan told the court that police had placed sufficient material before the court to prove the guilt of the accused.
Advocate for one of the accused, Mukesh, concluded his arguments claiming that his mere presence in the bus did not show that he participated in the gang rape, loot and murder of the woman.
Mukesh earlier claimed that he was driving the bus in which the woman was gang-raped and her male friend was beaten up, and had not raped her.
Six people, including the juvenile, were caught in the case. Accused Ram Singh, Mukesh, Pawan Gupta, Vinay Sharma and Akshay Thakur were tried by a fast track court in Saket in south Delhi.
Ram Singh later allegedly committed suicide in Tihar Jail, where he was lodged.
The juvenile was sentenced to a three-year stay in a reform home by a Juvenile Justice Board Aug 31 after he was found guilty of involvement in the rape and murder of the woman.
The incident sparked protests across the country with some people demanding the execution of the accused and some calling for chemical castration.
