Vietnam will send 101 players to compete in 14 disciplines at the 2013 Asian Youth Games to be held from Aug 16-24 in Nanjing, China.

Vietnamese players are expected to win medals from swimming, track and field, taekwondo, weightlifting and shooting, reports Xinhua.

The second edition of the tournament will serve as a rehearsal for Vietnam ahead of the 2014 Summer Youth Olympic Games to be held in the same city of China, and the 2019 Asian Games in Vietnam.

Athletes from 45 countries and regions will take part in the tournament, which is an international multi-sport event held every four years for athletes from 14-17 years old.
