Fashion designer Ashish N. Soni brought Hollywood glamour of the 1950s on the grand finale of Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week (WIFW) Spring Summer 2014 edition Sunday night.
The multi level stage and live music presentation by jazz bands complimented the theme of the collection La Dolce Vita.
Models in polka dot dresses, others with jackets and red lips with shades walked the ramp in an organised manner.
"Polka dots are my favourite. They also remind me of the 1950s and 1960s. I also used old Italian distorted mosaic for the range," Ashish, who was inspired by late Hollywood star Marilyn Monroe for makeup also, told IANS.
The silhouettes were fit and flared. He said that the black and white outfits made with fabrics like silk, satin and lace, were for any black tie event.
Apart from knee-length dresses and floor sweeping gowns, there were apparel with androgynous look too which Ashish said were important element of the 1950s.
The men's collection had the designer's interpretation of tuxedo suits and dinner jackets.
Actor Anil Kapoor, who was part of Hollywood projects like "Slumdog Millionaire", "Mission : Impossible-Ghost Protocol" and US TV series "24", walked for Ashish as the showstopper. And because of his Hollywood connect, the designer thought he was apt for the collection which was all about Hollywood glamour celebration.
Anil wore a black tuxedo with intricate work done on his jacket. One of the reasons why he agreed to walk for Ashish was because his daughters Sonam and Rhea told him to.
